This week’s word is “Hollow”. I had a hard time coming up with something…then I remembered the Wax Bunny. That’s how my mother and I refer to the first chocolate bunny I can remember. I was probably around 5 and my parents bought me this beautiful chocolate bunny. It was Special. I saved it until we went for an Easter picnic out in the desert. We drove and drove until we found a beautiful Joshua tree to sit under to enjoy our goodies. After lunch, it was finally time to eat the Special chocolate bunny. I was so excited! Well, the first time I remember experiencing disappointment in my life was with that bunny. First of all, it was HOLLOW!!! I couldn’t believe it! It was made of just a thin layer of chocolate and as hollow as a straw inside. Secondly, it tasted like chocolate flavored birthday candles. It was the worst tasting bunny that probably was ever created. After the initial shock, I do remember laughing over it with my family out there in the shade of the Joshua tree.
They still make these things! I see them every year at Easter time, the same yellow and blue eye, promising a tasty treat and really being a cute-shaped lump of wax.
So, for Hollow, I present my Special Wax Bunny.
